Back-to-School Nail Look
This look was so simple, and really fun to do.
Step One: Apply a white base coat. Any shade of white will do.
Step Two: Use a blue striper or nail art marker and on your thumb draw lines up and down. On the next finger draw blue lines going horizontally across the nail, and continue to switch which direction the blue stripes go.
Step Three: Use a yellow or green striper and draw overlapping and intersecting lines across the blue, as seen in the picture.
You don't want the lines to be exactly perfect. The waviness lends the look to a summery textile look.
You can vary the look by changing the spacing between the stripes. Narrow gaps will give it a more colored and dynamic feel. The wider and looser stripes like I've done are more summery and laid back.
I'd love see what you come up with, if you recreate this look please tag me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or Google plus with hashtag #summerstripes.
Thanks for your time, and I hope the rest of your summer is warm, fun and fabulous!

Mani Monday: Pinstripes in Silver & Black 1-13-14
Who doesn't love a pin stripe? This mani has a twist. Razzle Dazzle, a black polish from OPI, is the base for our accent nail. And then any plain silver will do for the base on the rest of the nails. I used a silver from one of my Birchboxes. It was called Martini by Nail Club. Now for that twist? Silver metallic pinstripes (I used Kiss Nails silver metallic striper) on every nail. I wish the pictures did this justice. In real life the effect of the silver metallic stipes on the silver base was incredible. Such a cool look and so worth a try.

Mani Monday: Red & Gold 1-06-14
Happy New Year you fabulous people! I can't believe it's 2014. Seriously, I'm in denial. So let's bring in the New Year right with a rocking mani. This one was so easy and such a statement on your nails ...you have to try it! As the nail base I used a beautiful red from Revlon called 'Cherry Crush'. If you don't have it you could substitute Revlon's 'Cherries in the Snow' or any other cool-toned bright red. Let it dry and use some scotch tape and the throw a metallic gold from OPI called 'The Next CEO' on the tips. I realize I use this gold on almost every mani. But it's too beautiful to let sit on the shelf! That's it...the whole look. Gorgeous! (And sorry for the dry hands in the pic - this winter is sucking the moisture right out of me.)

Mani Monday: Black & Gold 12-30-13
I did two variations of this nail, you'll see them in the pictures below. The base is a beautiful sparkly black by OPI called "Razzle Dazzler" and the golden spots were done with OPI's "The Next CEO", a beautiful sparkly gold. The look is classy and understated, and the sparkles are great for this time of year. The variations in the looks are with the double dots on the pointer through pinky fingers. In the first picture I did two dots a little larger and more centered on the nail. The last shots are of two smaller dots that are closer to the cuticle. It's just a matter of which look you prefer for yourself. Both thumbs have three small dots close to the cuticles. And, of course, the golden accent nail wraps up the look nicely. I tried using a dotting tool for this look but found it more difficult than just using the brush that came with the polish. Take your time and make beautiful things happen! :)

Mani Monday: Winter Trees 12-9-13
This manicure is my answer to the Fall Tree manicure I did last week. For the base I've used OPI's Unfor-Greta-bly Blue from their Germany 2012 Fall Collection.
For the trees I used a white striper from Kiss Nails. It's exactly like the fall trees that I did, but instead of birch trees with dead leaves, I used pine trees. The finished touch? I used a silver striper by Kiss Nails to put a silver dot on top of each tree like the star on top of a Christmas tree. This look was a lot of fun and one I'll definitely do again this winter. It's not too Christmas-y, but very seasonal.

Mani Monday: A Tribute to Fall 12-2-13
I used 'Vixen' by Revlon (an ox blood color) as the base for the nail. A nice brown shade would have worked as well. Then I took white striper from Kiss and painted two trees on each nail, one coming up from the base and the other coming down from the tip. On the thumb, the trees have two branches each. On the other nails, each tree has only one branch each. I used 'Fox Hunt' by Rufian for the orange leaves, a beautiful metallic copper color from Revlon for the leaves and a silver striper from Kiss for the leaves. Up close and in person this look is stylish and adorable. From afar it looks almost like a hounds tooth pattern on the nail.
Give this look a try, it's so much fun!

Mani Monday: French Manicure, Classy in Golds 11-24-13
This look was hard to photograph but looks amazing in person. I used a shimmery rose gold base from Nailtini in 'Champagne' for the nail. Then I went in with "The Next CEO" from OPI for the tips. 'The Next CEO' is a beautiful honey-colored shimmery gold. The effect was subtle, very wearable for every day (even for the more refined women), but when noticed was mind-blowing. I will definitely be wearing this again. Probably at Christmas.

Mani Monday: "Christmas Cheer" 11-18-13
I wanted to do a manicure this week that was festive and cheerful. Even though it's not even Thanksgiving yet, I've been feeling the urge to bust out my Christmas lights and put Santas everywhere. For the thumb and pinky nail I use Eileen (white) from Julep as a base and used a bright red from OPI for the candy cane stripes. I just used a thin paint brush to paint on the stripes. For my pointer and ring fingers I used a navy blue from OPI as the base and a silver striper from KISS to paint on snow flakes. And for my middle finger I used Eileen (white) from Julep as the base. I used a black striper to paint the power cord and a variety of fun colors to dot in the Christmas lights. I'm loving this look, my husband and kids love this look. Definitely one I'll be doing again for the holidays.
